Siyanbola Decorated ‘Courier Personality of the Year’@ BoICT Award
Siyanbola Aderinola Oladapo, a notable figure in the Nigeria’s courier/Logistic industry was at this year’s Beacon of Information and Communication Technology (BoICT) award decorated with the Courier Personality of the Year Award.
As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bowill Group of Companies which comprise Bowill Errands Ltd, a foremost indigenous Courier company, he has distinguished himself in many ways in the industry.
Mr. Ken Nwogbo, managing director, Communication Week Media, organizers of the award, said that Siyanbola’s leading role has drawn public interest to the courier/postal industry in Nigeria.
According to him, the yearly public lecture organized by Bowill Errands Limited has opened new vistas of hope towards restoring the industry to its former glory.
Siyanbola, however, had meritoriously worked in the Banking sector and Oil & Gas servicing company prior to his foray into Courier Sector about 15 years ago.
He is presently the National President of Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO), which is the umbrella body of registered courier companies in Nigeria, an Association he has served the Association in various capacities as Financial Secretary, Ass Gen Secretary and General Secretary.
He is still a member, Board of Trustees of ANCO
An advocate of professionalism, his company has consistently for over 5 (five) years organized and solely fund a yearly public lecture tagged Bowill Errands Annual Public Lecture bringing together various stakeholders, Federal/State agencies and Public.
In 2013, the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) and Lagos State Ministry of Transportation in appreciation of the lecture standard and relevance collaborated to organize the 5th edition, which was tagged International public lecture.
It is noteworthy that the event at any particular year attracts average of 500 people.
The public lecture advocates independent regulator for courier companies and the Executive Secretary of Ghana Postal Commission was guest speaker at last year’s conference.
The Bowill Errands Ltd Boss has distinguished himself, particularly, his ascendancy as the ANCO President in January 2014.
Speaking on the award, he said, “I feel highly honoured. The class of the award organized by Communication Week Media is the best of it. I feel challenged to continue to promote this industry.
“As Communication Week noted that the Public Lecture we organize has yielded positive results, we shall raise the stake to benefit people more, while charting a course for policy makers.
He has achieved much, ranging from zero level tolerance to unprofessional acts amongst members, to generous reduction in Courier licence renewal fee, to increase in membership base, improved discipline amongst members, Winning strategy against quacks and illegal operators, improved relationship with regulator and relevant agencies , generous discount from clients, Collaboration with Institutes and Educational Institution on Certification.
All in all, he is fast changing the face of courier industry to the admiration of all within five months.
