South East Govs Disown Radio Biafra

South-East governors have distanced themselves from so-called Radio Biafra, which said it is dedicated to the defense of rights of the indigenous people of Biafra and ultimately the actualization of the Republic of Biafra.

The governors rose from a day forum held at Imo Government House, Owerri, on Sunday with a decision not to recognise the radio station.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state at the end of the forum, said “the radio does not have the endorsement south east governors.”

It would be recalled that the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), had recently urged Nigerians to ignore Radio Biafra transmission which is spreading hate messages.

Alhaji Awwalu Salihu, director, Public Affairs of the commission, said in a statement that the commission had become aware of a pirate radio station transmitting seditious and divisive content contrary to the provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and law.

It assured the public that it was working in conjunction with security forces to track the source of the broadcast.

It urged the public to ignore the inflammatory content of the broadcast and continue to work toward a strong, united and prosperous nation.

It would be recalled that Radio Biafra caused a stir on social media after it aired some ‘hate messages’.

Go after them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Viber, Whatsapp etc and all the platforms you find yourselves.
