State Chapters Share Expectations from NCS 'Akure 2015'

‎With NCS Akure 2015 on the horizon, some State chapters chairmen of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) have expressed their expectations from the International Conference tagged 'Akure 2015',  ranging from  rich contents, relevance and clear-cut IT vision for the country.

These were contained in NCS' release on its website at the weekend.

NCS is the nation's largest organization devoted to advancing the IT profession and industry.

A vibrant network of chapters provides a national footprint supporting the NCS mission.

According to Professor David Adewumi, NCS President, "The conference is a unique opportunity to make considerable progress in building an inclusive, globally competitive and prosperous Nigeria that is significantly information technology-based and knowledge-driven".

In serving the IT community, NCS Chapters make significant impact through active participation and contribution towards the success of local, state and national events such as the National Information Technology Whizkids competition.

Looking forward to a rich and fulfilling conference, some NCS chapters share their perspective.

Mr. Dadson Jon Nwakalo, chairman Enugu state Chapter said, "We hosted the last conference which was a huge success, so we pray and wish that the Akure conference will be better than the Enugu Conference in all aspects. Wishing all members a safe journey to Akure and back to their destinations".

Dr. 'Bukola Onashoga, chairman Ogun state Chapter is, "Looking forward to useful dialogue and suggestions, healthy participation from academia, industry and government, A well organized, safe and respectful environment for improved knowledge sharing and understanding of ethical & regulatory issues"

To Dr.Akinseye M. Damilola, chairman Lagos state Chapter, "The gathering should take a position on National IT Officer in government at Federal Level. It should develop initiatives to empower chapters & address constitutional issues  to enhance performance".

Also,  Zubayr Emimaru, chairman Niger state Chapter said, he is "Expecting assistance with membership processing and opportunities to improve membership growth. A goal is examining ways of improving communication between Chapters and  the National Secretariat".

Bassey Esang, chairman Akwa Ibom state Chapter, the conference is a means of "Exploring ways to make IT professionals relevant in the Country is topmost. The importance of strengthening state chapters cannot be overstressed and actionable initiatives must be developed".

Prince Igho Majemite, chairman FCT Abuja Chapter, said "Presentations should showcase technological innovation and trends, with a focus on practical executable IT driven models. Being an election year, good conduct and credible and transparent elections are expected".

Hadi Mamman Masari, coordinator Katsina state Chapter, said "As the voice of the IT sector, the conference is an avenue to promote cordial relationships and social well-being within the NCS family. Focus should also be on innovative practices and insights on latest technology and trends"

While, Dr. James Oladiipo Folorunso, chairman Osun state Chapter, said, "In powering innovation for national impact from the grassroots, the forum should explore various means of making the chapters solvent and more active. Local and state impact is essential for Digital Nigeria".

NCS Akure 2015 takes place from July 22 -24, 2015 at Jojein Hotels & Resort, Airport Road, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.
