The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) at its seventh Annual General Meeting (AGM) had the four vacant positions in the Executive Board of Directors filled.
From the elections, Mr. Sunday Folayan who contested unopposed was unanimously endorsed by members for the position of the President.
Folayan was formerly the Vice President, NiRA and takes over from Mrs. Mary Uduma, erstwhile president.
The other positions were keenly contested. The position of Vice President was won by Mr. Muhammed Rudman.
He was formerly a member of the Executive Board of Directors of NiRA.
Mr. Segun Akano, the MD/CEO Upperlink Limited and Mr. Sunday Olutayo, the CEO Sadeeb Technologies Limited won the positions for members of NiRA Executive Board of Directors.
The new Executive Board of Directors of NiRA are: Mr. Sunday Folayan- President; Mr. Muhammed Rudman- Vice President; Mr. Sikiru Shehu- Finance Secretary; Mr. Adebiyi Oladipo- Treasurer; Mr. Bimbo Olayinka; Mr. Tope Fashedemi; Mr. Lanre Ajayi; Mr. Adebunmi Akinbo; Mr. Segun Akano and Mr. Sunday Olutayo.
In an email to Nigeria CommunicationsWeek confirming the election results, Edith Udeagu, chief operating officer, Nigeria Internet Registration Association, said “We congratulate the newly elected members of the Executive Board of Directors of NiRA and wish all a successful tenure in office”.
NiRA is the registry for .ng Internet Domain Names and maintains the database of names registered in the .ng country code Top Level Domain.
The Association is a self-regulating body and managers of the .ng national resource.
