Quarterly audit of mobile telephone service providers in Nigeria has again rated Glo Mobile as the best GSM operator in the country.
The latest survey results published in the Feb-March edition of IT Edge, a leading IT/Telecom news magazine, showed that Glo Mobile emerged tops in the performance indices of the research carried out by IT Edge Intelligence Unit and Jidaw Systems Limited. IT Edge Intelligence Unit is a research arm of IT Edge magazine, while Jidaw Systems is a leading IT training, research and consulting firm in Africa.
Glo Mobile placed first on the table with an overall score of 47 out of a maximum 55 points. MTN finished second with 46 points. Zain had 43 and Etisalat 42 points.
Out of the eleven test categories used in assessing the performance of all the GSM companies, Glo Mobile emerged first in nine. These include Signal Strength, Call Success Rate, Call Drop, Voice Response Time and Voice Quality to Downlink. The others are Successful Recharge, Value Added Services (VAS), Internet Services and Call Centre Operations.
The company came second in the other two categories; namely, Voice Quality to Uplink and Successful Enquiry.
Segun Oruamen, chief executive officer of IT Edge, and Head of IT Edge Intelligence Unit, explained that the survey statistics were based on feedback obtained from subscribers across the networks in different parts of the country as well as call centre operators. Jidaw Systems also has a team of engineers which monitors network signal strengths.
Globacom’s overall success in service delivery and product innovation stems from its deployment of superior technology. It was the only operator in Africa to launch its operations on the 2.5G technology and also the first to commercially launch the 3G technology. The robust platforms ensure unparalleled voice clarity and low drop calls and also enable the offering of innovative value added services.
Glo Mobile’s customer care service compares with the best in the world. It is equipped with the latest technology and is manned by well trained and highly motivated staff. The Department has established a reputation for professionalism, courtesy and prompt resolution of customer care issues.
Globacom has in its less than seven years of operation won most of the awards in the industry, the latest of which are the GSM Company of the Year, Telecoms Operator of the Year and Gateway Provider of the Year won at the Beacon of ICT Awards as well as the City People award for the Best GSM Company of the Year.
