Dr. Gabriel Suswam, governor of Benue State has commissioned an ICT based research hub at the Benue State University, Makurdi, built with resources sourced by the school.

The centre  is fitted with ultra modern Information and Communication Technology and will address research challenges faced by researchers and students of the University in pursuit of their education.

Suswam commended the management of the University for executing such a laudable project without the assistance of the state government and charged the Vice Chancellor  and the entire management to continue to evolve measures that will place the institution among the best in the country.

He charged them not to relent in ensuring that cultism is not found among students of the University who are future leaders of tomorrow.

While congratulating the staff and students of the University for maintaining peace and cordial working relationship for conducive learning, the governor said he was satisfied with the fact that the ICT project which was initiated by the past leadership of the University is brought to fruition by the present administration.

Prof. Charity Angya, vice chancellor of the university expressed happiness that the foundation laying ceremony was done by the Governor, and hoped that the centre will address research challenges faced by researchers and students of the University in pursuit of their education.

She said the project was funded with the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), of the institution, and that most of the school’s transactions are now done on the internet.
