The second edition of StartupSouth, an event targeted at empowering start-ups operating in South-East and South-South region, will this year feature leading technology influencers, business leaders and technology investors across Nigeria.
The event is slated for Thursday November 10, 2016 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State with the theme: “Tech as business enabler.”
Recall that the maiden edition of the event which held on November 28, 2015, attracted technology entrepreneurs such as Mark Essien of Hotels.ng, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, formerly of Andela, Chinenye Mbauzoukwu, etc.
In a statement, organisers, Biztorials.com, said the event will provide learning, networking exposure and funding opportunities for founders and start-ups active in the eleven States that make up these the South-South and South-East regions.
Tech influencers billed to speak at this year’s edition include: “Gossy Ukanwoke of BAU R&D, Simeon Ononobi of Simplepay, Editi Effiong of Anakle and Marek Zmyslowski of HotelOga.
Others include: “Izobe Spiff of Tres Bien Events, Olaotan Towry-Coker of Afritickets.com, Funke Tonye-Preghafi of Gifty’s Daughter, Ojo Akin-Longe of T&D Press, Osamede Evbakhavbokun of Gidimall.com and Lexi Novitske of Singularity Investment.
The event will also be graced by the Director General of Nigeria Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Dr. Ibrahim Patanmi who will be a special guest and keynote speaker.
The event will also feature start-up pitches and a networking dinner with special guests.
Speaking about the event, Uche Aniche, founder of VenueHero.co and Chief Convener of StartupSouth, said: “StartupSouth is an effort to create awareness for the emerging tech ecosystem in the South-South and South-East. We desire to encourage more youths to take to technology, to discourage criminality, and attract investment to the regions outside oil and gas.”
