Teledom Group International, an Information Technology and Telecommunication (ICT) company is set to launch the first global smart classroom in the country, a technology enhanced classroom that boosts the quality of teaching and learning by leveraging learning technology, such as computers, specialized software, audience response technology, video conferencing platform, interactive smart board.

The Smart Classroom is to be launched by Goodluck Jonathan, president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, CEO, Teledom Group said: “If we sincerely desire to improve the quality of teaching and learning, then we must do the needful and integrate Information Communication Technology (ICT) in our learning processes. This will dramatically make teaching and learning more efficient and improve the quality of education.”

“With that, no teacher can walk to the class unprepared as the teacher has to prepare ahead of the class, Ekuwem said.”

He explained that the conventional teaching and learning methods and the environment in which they are carried out in conventional classroom seem not to have delivered the much needed dividends to the student, the teacher and the society at large as evident in the quality of products we have in our society today.

The smart classroom is to run on locally-made computers by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in Nigeria.

“Jobs are created in the process of setting up a smart classroom and far more jobs are created by the products of a smart classroom. Learning becomes fun with excitement to learn more and apply knowledge and there is mass attraction to the classroom by the youth. Boredom in class is gone forever.”  He added
