Prince Sam Ezeh is the managing director of Ezex Courier Services Limited, an offshoot of God Bless Ezenwata Transport Limited. He spoke on his vision for setting up the courier outfit which he said was borne out of the desire to set a standard in the industry as an indigenous courier company that can deliver first class service. He said his foray into courier business is a continuation of his chosen path of providing logistics support to millions of Nigerians in the business and private sectors of the economy.
Ezeh emphasized the need for government to partner with courier operators in order to move the courier business to the next level saying that lack of such partnership and support from government has taken a toll on the level of progress made so far in the industry. He lamented the sorry state of infrastructure in the country and said this has made the business Herculean. He said merging the state of our infrastructure with the high expectation in terms of quality of service offered to their customers keeps courier operators on their toes all the time.
Training of staff to keep abreast of development in the competitive courier business, Ezeh said is a core value of the company. "I consider training of staff from the beginning as an integral part of what would keep people moving if they are to make positive impact in the industry to show that excellence and perfection could be achieved in their line of business", he said. In addition to training, he said Ezex Courier Services Limited employs courier professionals who know their bearing in the industry even as he attributed failure of most courier businesses to bad management decisions resulting from having square pegs in round holes. In his courier firm, he said the company has the right calibre of staff and professionals who make sure that business purchases in terms of satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness are maintained at all times.
He talked about the strategic support the courier firm enjoys from God Bless Ezenwata Transport and said the transport company has boosted logistics business with such support even as he revealed that the platform is also enjoyed by other numerous courier companies that depend on the support provided by the partnership. In either way , whether the courier firm is servicing its direct clients or other courier companies that depend on their logistics , Ezeh maintained that the company makes sure that clients’ goods and services receive the best of attention.
To curb the incidence of pilfering of clients’ goods he said that the company does not employ any staff that does not have a track record of where he is coming from ." The company does not employ anybody who comes from no where and has no reference. It engages only those whose antecedents are known or are traceable, Ezeh submitted.
Further, he said the company operates open secret transactions which allow a parcel to be scrutinized by more than one member of staff before it is finally sealed for dispatch. In the same way, he said that other parcels coming into the country are immediately collected on arrival at the airport and effort is made immediately to contact the owner of the parcel for collection. He believes that putting necessary checks in place the incidence of pilfering could be minimized in courier companies. He emphasized trust as an essential element in courier business as in every other one which must not be abused saying that it forms the bedrock of their existence as a company.
Ezeh commended the level of Information Communications Technology awareness in the country and said the development has impacted positively on the operations of courier companies with improved and faster means of communication.
