Tunde Coker Bags Cranfield University’s Highest Alumni Award

Dr. Ayotunde Coker, Managing Director, Rack Centre has been honoured with a “Distinguished Manufacturing Alumnus Award” for 2020 by the Cranfield University.

The Cranfield Manufacturing Alumni Awards recognise special achievements and contributions of alumni and provide Cranfield with an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate those who exemplify the values of Cranfield in the areas of manufacturing, materials and design.

The Alumni Awards allow Cranfield Manufacturing to showcase the impact of Cranfield globally and highlight the accomplishments of individuals who may serve as role models to other alumni, students and potential students.

Incidentally, COVID prevented an elaborate award ceremony and in December there was a virtual award ceremony.

Nonetheless, in a letter conveying the honour done on Dr. Coker, the Alumni Communications Executive, Alumni Relations and Development, Cranfield University, Jenny Lucas-Hill, congratulated him “on being awarded the Distinguished Manufacturing Alumnus Award for 2020”.

Interestingly, Dr. Coker graduated from the University in 1989 with MSc. Engineering and Management of Manufacturing Systems.

With the award, Coker has been recognized for ‘sustaining professional achievement at the highest levels’, in terms of technology/engineering leadership, achieving transformational change in an organization, significant and successful project management, contribution to company profitability, job creation as well as other factors.

Coker has shown leadership prowess as the pioneer managing director of Rack Centre which was founded in 2012 as the only carrier neutral Tier III Constructed Facility Certified data centre in Africa and focuses solely on providing best in class data centre colocation services and unrestricted interconnect between carriers and customers.
