UBA Explains Sponsorhip of AMAA

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has stated that its sponsorship of Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA) is a demonstration of its commitment to promoting the continent’s art and entertainment industry.
The banking giant noted that the Award is tailored to boost creative excellence among filmmakers, and has gained in popularity across Africa considering the number of entries from all parts of the continent for this year’s edition.
“UBA-AMAA exists as a platform to reward filmmakers, actors, actresses and other creative professionals involved in the filmmaking process,” said Abdul Abubakar of the Events and Sponsorship unit of the bank.
According to UBA, it has become necessary for corporate organizations to partner with the entertainment industry through sponsorships and project funding, as the sector is currently contributing significantly to Africa’s economy.
“African film is a much underrated communications platform. African filmmakers are ambassadors of our continent. Their work is a testament to the fact that good things do indeed come out of Africa. Their works tell our stories, our hopes and dreams; and UBA is proud to be associated with the very best of the industry. We are also proud to be working with Bayelsa state government – this year’s host and co-sponsor of the UBA-AMAA,” the bank added.
UBA has been a title sponsor of the AMAA for the second year running, having believed that Africa really needs a credible platform to recognize and reward professionals in the movie industry who use their expertise to propagate the African culture.
