UniLag/ANCO to Commence Courier Certification, Diploma Programme

Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO) has reached an understanding with the University of Lagos (UniLag) to conduct both a certificate and diploma programme for the courier sector, in the quest to instill discipline and professionalism in the nation’s courier sector.

Mr. Siyanbola Oladapo, managing director and chief executive officer, Bowill Errands Limited, upon his election and subsequent swearing-in as the 3rd  national president of ANCO, rolled out the developmental agenda of his leadership to include robust membership base, articulate and highly proactive Association/Exco; expanding business frontier in West Africa, championing establishment of umbrella body for courier companies in West Africa; a vibrant and responsive secretariat, regular stakeholders meeting, joining hands to flush out illegal operators; facilitating ease of assessing cheaper loans by operators; setting up machinery for building a befitting secretariat amongst others.

However, Mr. Toyin Olufade, immediate past president of the Association led the cat-out-of-the-bag during the inauguration of the new executives in Lagos on Tuesday.

According to him, programme commences immediately after the current ASUU strike is called-off.

Giving a brief account of his stewardship as the captain of the Association for almost seven years, Oludafe said that the understanding reached with the school authority is a big leap forward to entrenching professionalism in the system.

“In our desire to put professionalism in this sector, we reached an understanding with the University of Lagos (UniLag) to conduct both a certificate and diploma programme for the courier sector. We have been majorly successful in our drives and this is attributed to the team spirit and the focus of the executives,” he said.

Collaborating Olufade’s view on the need to ensure professionalism take prominence in the industry, Oladapo, said that the new administration has a clear understanding of the mandate bestowed on it and promised that they will deploy all their intellectual firepower from multiple ideas and experience and muster all the visionary traits within them to tackle the multifaceted challenges before the industry.
