VDT Communications Limited working to meet its vision as a preferred broadband communication service provider in Nigeria has certified all necessary and has been awarded International Organization Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certificate.

ISO 9001:2008 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

The feat is based on Joint Accreditation System for Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) BSCIS ISO 9001:2008 certification.

Presenting the certificate to VDT Communications Limited in Lagos on Wednesday, Mr. Moses Omuetha, representing BSCIC Certifications Pvt. Limited, said that principally, all requirements of ISO 9001:2008 are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product provided.

He said that VDT endeared itself to the certification team by showcasing effective management, quality consistency and improved staff morale and would enhance constituency in customer satisfaction, process efficiency and profitability.

Omuetha said: “VDT has corrected some of the standardization related issues in its processes. In fact, there was an overwhelming enthusiasm and readiness among the member staff, unlike in some organizations where the staff would frown at it. It was a rigorous process that lasted for nine (9) months. It was supposed to have lasted for 12 months, but their interests and openness to change helped the matter.

On his part, Dimeji Folani, representing Dominite Consults, the certification consulting firm, said that clear-cut dimensions to ISO certification must embrace attitudinal change, defined organizational goal, improvement in technological turfs, approach and strategic process to add values.
He said that VDT made the right choice by following the rigorous process of certification, adding that it must keep lubricating the process to ensure the relevance of the award is maintained.

He said that the journey to Quality is unending, “therefore, we hope that our ‘preferred broadband communications service provider’-VDT will continually improve its quality services while meeting the requirements and needs of its interested parties”.

Earlier, Mr. Abiodun Omoniyi, managing director, VDT Communications Limited, said the company’s decision to pursue standardization according to international specifications was due to its determination for an improved trust and irrefutable integrity anchored on customer satisfaction.

“Our unwavering determination and commitment to continuously research, develop and test the technology that is relied upon by our customers is top priority. “It all started with our search for means of ending groaning of the customers on multi-dimension quality problems, which invariable affected VDT as a company. We also wanted the best for our customers.

“Here at VDT, we recognised that customer demand and the drive for new revenue growth is changing the market. Customers want an increasingly diverse menu of services, delivered at a time and place convenient to them, paid for in a variety of ways: sometimes in advance, sometimes now, sometimes later; the choice they would expect when shopping for other products and services today. So, as people who understand the customer’s need we had to go for the process that will bring out the best in us. We had several proposals, but we chose the most rigorous to achieve that purpose,” the VDT MD said.

Folani enumerated benefits of the certification to include, a common, understood system including consistent and repeatable processes. “The organisation/business functions in a disciplined and systematic way, almost no matter what happens. You have fewer failures in quality of service or product.

“People are clear about what to do and how; they don't have to spend time 'making things up' or 'finding things out' or reinventing wheels,” among other benefits.

VDT Communications Limited, the winner of Beacon of ICT 2013 Bulk Internet Provider of the Year has proven its worth in the provision of data communication services to corporate organizations with multiple branches across Nigeria.

Will it make crypto more expensive? Will users simply move elsewhere?
