Upon identifying psychological barriers, cost savings, loss of control and a host of other challenges as limiting companies’ interest in cloud computing, Vodacom Business said it can upturn these challenges with added advantage of scalability.
Andre Gouws, product manager, Hosting, Vodacom Business, made the remark during a presentation at the International Data Corporation (IDC) cloud computing roadshow 2013, adding that Vodacom’s Cloud computing solution as a complete managed office solution for businesses offers control, simplicity and harnessing the full power of Cloud Computing.
Gouws said that Vodacom has noticed worries among companies to participate in Public Cloud environments, especially cyber security, performance, risk of intellectual property theft, legal issues, high cost of implementation and loss of control over their data.
“Because of these concerns, organizations and individuals still have doubts about buying into cloud computing”. Meanwhile, Vodacom has solutions that can take care of the identified challenges. “We are sure of offering companies scalable solutions where Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) is negated and you can maximize your total system performance. Our Public Cloud shared infrastructure lets you pay-as-you-use. Our best-of-breed technology also allows for quick customer onboarding,” Gouws said
The Product Manager explained that the best approach to engaging in public cloud services is to ensure that you choose a reputable service provider, start off with non-business critical information on a virtualized platform, take up hosted email as an easy entry point and enforce internal security policies.
