Web Jurist Gives Verdict on Telecos, Other Websites

Phillips Consulting Limited established a barometer for measuring the effectiveness of web sites called Web Jurist.

Now, in its 12th year (v12.0), the Web Jurist panelists passed verdict on the websites of telecommunication network operators, banks, insurance institution and investment banks in Nigeria, based on their performances in the last twelve months.

At the event held at Eko Hotel during the week, Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank), Airtel Nigeria, Mansard (Insurance) and bgl (investment bank) emerged winners in their respective categories.

Web Jurist,, was instituted 12 years ago to ensure the continuous enhancement of e-business activities and encourage best web communication practise.

The initiative was conceived by the e-business experts at Phillips Consulting Limited.

The ratings commenced in May 2001 as version 1.0 and has reached version 12.0

Meanwhile, GTBank which was second best in 2013 was rated higher than others in the category comprising Access and Union banks.

In the telecoms industry, Airtel led the way where Glo and Etisalat came second and their respectively.

Similarly, Mansard led the insurance category outpacing Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc and Law Union & Rock, who are new entrants in the rating.

Bgl also led the investment banks category; setting the pace for others like ARM and Vetiva who are new entrants.

Mr. Foluso Phillips, chairman of Phillips Consulting Limited, described the ratings as a means to critically and objectively evaluate the effectiveness of web-sites in Nigeria, focusing entirely on the sectors that currently have high customer interaction, giving consideration to what customers would value from an effective web site.

The evaluation process, he said, assists organisations to identify best practices, suggests improvement strategies and acts as a catalyst for constructive, value added growth.
