Wema Bank Launches Online Game

Mr. Segun Oloketuyi, MD, Wema Bank Plc

Wema Bank Plc has scored yet another first with the launched an online social game, Sharp Sule, in partnership with Nigerian social tech startup, Maliyo Games.

Sharp Sule, the first ever facebook app for African themed casual games, is a fun and interactive game that brings excitement and real value to its players.

Through the launch, Wema Bank becomes the first financial institution in Nigeria to foray into social gaming – riding on the heels of its equally successful hosting of Nigeria’s first fully online reality competition, ‘The Writer’, in partnership with the widely read blog, tncng.com.

The Sharp Sule interactive game follows the story of a regular guy, Sharp Sule, who works hard to earn a living by riding his motorbike on the streets of Lagos, Nigeria.  He aspires to run a bigger transportation business, earn more money and upgrade his status.

The aim of the game is to avoid obstacles on the busy roads– cars, traffic officials, and more– whilst collecting coins in the process that will translate to points in the game as well as real cash.

The game, which is simplistic in nature, presents an immersive experience for players from the beautiful background music to the really hilarious ‘Ye!’ scream that SharpSule lets out when he crashes into a vehicle.

Throughout the game, the underlying values of hard work, resilience, timeliness, discipline and eventual success that define #SharpSule are subtly reinforced in the player’s mind.

The goal is for players to earn the no.1 spot on the leader board at the end of each month in order to win the monthly grand prize of N100, 000.
