Wincor Nixdorf, known more for ATMs and point-of-sale solutions, has joined the digital wallet wars with the introduction of Wincor Wallet, a digital wallet that is integrated into its retail and service station software suites.
Wincor Nixdorf calls it "an ideal platform" for combining disparate mobile payment and loyalty programmes, and said its mobile wallet will support every standard mobile operating system.
It will also be compatible with QR codes and NFC technologies and will allow merchants to accept debit or credit cards and mobile coupons, and to redeem "mobile" vouchers on customers' smartphones at the point of sale.
"Retailers and service station companies thus have a platform that they can adapt individually to offer their customers optimum payment convenience and set themselves apart from the competition," said Jürgen Manske, senior solution manager for Retail at Wincor Nixdorf.
