The educational sector appears to have come to terms with the fact that only a whole hearted acceptance of Information Technology can restore the role of education as the pivot of national development.
It is coming especially as global economy show signs of weakness as the recession grip major economies of the world including Nigeria.
The good news is that is seeing Information Technology as way out and Zinox Computers is helping out
Mrs. Vivian Abii, the CEO of the Computerize Nigeria Project, (CNP) said that no company has invented more creative schemes to achieve IT penetration in educational institutions more than Zinox Computers, Nigeria’s foremost manufacturer of IT products, declared
She explained that the marketing portfolio from Zinox was full to the brim and there was always something for every need. For example, she listed that the educational institutions could be supplied from any of the following schemes – The Zinox Corporate, which supplies high end systems for the day to day running of the institutions, The Model Digital Centre Scheme, which builds an IT centre for the institution, equips it and hands it over to the school, The Staff Computer Acquisition Scheme, which offers discounts and flexible payment plans to enable teachers and lecturers to own computers. The Digital Lab Scheme – often Zinox donates the furniture and other infrastructure to motivate the institutions to expose their students to computers. There is also the Zinox Students Computer Ownership Project, ZSCOP, which is so generous that a student can take possession of the computer after paying just 10% of the price.
Beyond these schemes, Zinox is deploying thousands of systems to educational institutions sponsored by corporate persons who believe in the vision and service quality of Zinox Computers. Prominent among these is the Universal Service Providers Fund, USPF, who have donated digital centres, complete with internet, to tertiary institutions in the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria. SNEPCO has also donated digital centres to secondary schools in the Niger Delta using Zinox laptops and desktops. The schools where Zinox laptops have been deployed lately include university of Calabar, University of Benin, Anambra State, University, Uli, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Federal Government College, Odogbolu, Federal Polytechnic, Bida, to mention a few.
Mr. Bayo Adediji, liaison officer of the USPF in Lagos confirmed his organization is passionate about enhancing IT penetration in Nigerian schools as a means of promoting meaningful teaching and learning. He said that the USPF was encouraged by the IT enthusiasm in the educational sector of the economy. While verifications from Prof. Anekwe, the Head of IT at the University of Benin confirmed that the institution recently received 100 Zinox laptops from the USPF.
It would be recalled that Zinox is computerizing all Federal universities in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission.
