Zoom Mobile Nigeria Limited an indigenous telecommunication outfit has promised to build and equip an ultra modern Information and Communication Center ( ICT Center ) for students of Anambra State University Uli .

Senator Annie Okonkwo, chairman, Zoom Mobil Nigeria, said this when Dr Agbanu Venatuis, head of Department of Mass Communications, of the University led his students to pay a courtesy call to the senator.

Senator Okonkwo said his officers would be in the University to discuss with the school management on location and land for the immediate take off of the project saying the gesture is part of his contribution to education in the state.

Senator Okonkwo while decrying the kind of forgery and corrupt practices in the school system that graduates can no longer defend their certificates, advised the Mass Communication students to be exemplary in all they do since hard work, dedication and commitment to studies still pays and urged them to shun all sharp practices and cutting corners for success as it does not last.

He warned lecturers to desist from deceiving the students entrusted unto their care by taking their lectures serious and impacting knowledge to the students even as he promised to make Zoom Mobile network available to the University environment at an affordable price. He encouraged other spirited individuals from the state to donate to education since only government can not take care of education.

Senator Okonkwo described the University as one of the good things that has happened to the state as it would give opportunities to Anambrains to gain admission into Higher institution but warned that nothing good comes easy in life hence those in schools should learn to work hard in order to be able to take over from the present crop of politicians and leaders as future Nigerian leaders and politicians.

Earlier in his speech Dr Venatuis Agbanu, head of Department Mass Communication at the University, said that during the students week of the department that the students had awarded Zoon Mobile as the most students friendly net work and for the Senator’s commitment on the education of youths of the state and the country at large .

Dr Agbanu after enumerating the strides the department had recorded since they moved to Igbariam campus appealed for assistance in various areas of the department including classroom blocks, studio equipment as the one did was badly done during accreditation and operational vehicles among others but gave opportunity for the students to say it themselves in an address read by Lollia Dappa , secretary general of the Association of Mass Communication Students .

Miss Dappa while referring the senator on other philanthropist work done by others in other universities and schools in form of donating structures said they are soliciting for his assistance as a promoter of education to assist make their mass communication studio go on air as that of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Madonna University Okija.

She enumerated some of the exploits of the department to the senator but remarked that a lot need to be done to put the department where it suppose to belong in the comity of Mass Communication departments in the country if not in the state.
