Dana Airlines has taken delivery of a second MD 83 aircraft, three weeks after the arrival of its first airplane.

Mr Jacky Hathiramani, managing director, Dana Airlines, announced this in a statement in Ikeja. The statement said the aircraft would enable the airline to cater adequately for its passengers.

It said that the delivery of its second aircraft had enabled the airline to meet the industry's standard for operating domestic scheduled operations in the country.

''We are hopeful that within the next two weeks, we shall be receiving our Airline Operator Certificate from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Our operational staff are on the verge of concluding their training and re-training activities, ahead of commencement of operations,'' the statement said.

It said that the airline would offer a two-class service, with 12 seats dedicated to the ''Smart Class," adding that it would operate a shuttle service on the Lagos-Abuja route from inception.

The statement added that Dana Airlines was also making arrangements to acquire more aircraft for other domestic and regional routes.
