Tinsel, is the first studio-based multi-camera international soap-opera commissioned in sub-Saharan Africa by Mnet.
It is a riveting story of Fred Ade-Williams, the enigmatic founder of Nigeria’s biggest independent film company, "Reel Studios" who is drawn into a battle of wills with daring newcomer, Brenda "Nana" Mensah, whose beauty and intelligence is only surpassed by her drive to transform her film company, "Odyssey Pictures" into a dominant force.
And she will stop at nothing.
Brenda has installed a "weak link" in Fred’s company…a mole and her exploitation of it sparks off a corporate war that vibrates through the entire film industry. What starts out as a power struggle between two influential studio owners soon grows disastrously out of control. No one is immune and everything is put to the test as these titans’ clash and destinies are changed, forever.
With so much at stake, will Fred’s refusal to sink his opponent’s level cost him everything he’s ever held dear?
Elsewhere, Reginald, the head of productions at Reel Studios is a creative genius whose marriage is almost torn apart by his lust for his efficient and beautiful personal assistant, Angela. But when Reginald and Amaka begin plans to start a family, the seemingly docile Angela grows possessive and refuses to let go!
Amaka discovers the truth of Reginald’s affair and gives him an ultimatum - he must choose between her and Angela. Tinsel was created by Yinka Ogun and produced by the trio of Femi Odugbemi (content producer), Jaiye Ojo (executive producer) and Lemmy Adebule (associate producer).
Over 80 cast and crew from Nigeria and Ghana worked on the project which was in pre-production for over 9 months and was shot in studio for over 100 days.
