FirstBank Sponsors Police Marathon

FirstBank of Nigeria Plc has signed up to become the Platinum Sponsor of the second edition of The People Police Marathon tagged Race against Crime. The sponsorship places FirstBank amongst other sponsors such as Kia Motors, Nestle Water, Dana Airlines, Sheraton Hotels and Towers Abuja, Vines Hotel Abuja, Nipost, First Post and others.
At the unveiling ceremony of FirstBank held at the police headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, group managing director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank, represented by Dr. Yaqeen Habeeb, group head, Public Sector said the bank decided to support the race because the policing of the society belongs to everyone, adding that the safer the environment, the easier it is to practice banking, which also creates more opportunities for investments.
This year’s marathon according to Sir Mike Okiro, inspector general of Police (IGP) will afford participants the opportunity of interacting freely with the police and at the same time get to win fabulous prizes ranging from cars to cash prizes.
The first male in the public and police category will go home with a Kia Rio car each, while the first female in the public and police category will emerge winners of a Kia Picanto car each.
The first male and female runners up in the public category will win $3,000 each while same amount will be won by the first male and female police runners. Second runners up in all four categories will go home with $2,000 each, while a consolation prize of 10 bank accounts worth N10, 000 each, will be given to the fourth to thirteenth placed runners in the overall standing.  The sponsors will also give away 1,000 phones to the first one thousand to finish the race.
The maiden edition of the People Police marathon was held in Abuja last year and afforded various sections of the public great rewards. It gave the corporate world an opportunity to be socially responsible and availed the public, an opportunity to see the very positive side of the police giving the police themselves an opportunity to interface with the public that they serve.
Mr. Peter Osamgbi, chief consultant to the People Police Marathon, beckoned on the private sector to remain partners in making this year’s marathon a reality for a better police to the good of all.
