The Beat 99.9 and Classic 97.3, two FM stations fresh from the oven have broken on the Nigerian scene to offer listeners quality radio experience, and would first be felt in Lagos and its environs, Nigeria CommunicationsWeek has learnt
Chris Ubosi, co-founder of the stations, said that The Beat is a full service station with local and international music, entertainment and topical news, and primarily targets the youth within the age bracket of 15 - 35, bringing a fresh and vibrant tilt to the market.
Classic FM, he said, targets those with a more mature lifestyle - the 35 and above - who are the decision makers and high profile consumers in the market; adding that all the music, programming and presentation on the station will be tailored to reflect this stance.
Ubosi, who was a founding member of Cool FM, has consulted for various state governments, as well as the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in the establishment of digital radio stations; having served on the Federal Government Committee for the draft Mass Communication Policy in 2004.
Together with a team of individuals who are experts in their fields, and a seasoned board of directors, Ubosi is set to blaze the trail in radio broadcasting, especially at this point in time when the country is on the verge of digitisation.
