Union Bank of Nigeria Plc after an initial N20 million deposit made to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has added another N30 million bringing its donation to the Fund to N50 million.
Dr. Barth Ebong, the bank’s group managing director/chief executive in a letter conveying the cheque to the State Governor assured the State Government of the bank’s continued support and willingness to partner with the Lagos State Government in its laudable quest to transform the State into a mega city.
Meanwhile, the Bank bagged the Most Courteous Bank Award at the just concluded Kaduna International Trade Fair where it showcased its new culture of world class service delivery along with a bouquet of electronic and consumer products.
The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) also lauded the bank for its consistent support to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Agriculture, and the overall development of the economy.
The Central Bank of Nigeria Kaduna Zonal Office also adjudged Union Bank as the Best Performed Bank of the Year 2008 having cleared 538,853 cheques worth N712.684 billion, the highest during the period.
The bank also carted away three out of the eight awards given out by the Kaduna Bankers’ Clearing House Committee. Union Bank was awarded the Overall Best Clearing House award, the Best Bank with the Highest Volume of Transactions award and the Most Disciplined Bank award.
The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Bank was awarded the Best Performed Deposit Money Bank in Agricultural Financing for the Year 2008, by the Bankers Committee, Port Harcourt.
These awards are attributed to the Bank’s enterprise transformation exercise as staff continues to render world class service to the delight of customers having increased deposits from the N20 million recorded in 2007 to N100 million in 2008, showing a 400 per cent increment.
