MTN Project Fame West Africa is one of a kind in the region today, discovering new talents and transforming lives for the better.
At the media launch of the event in Lagos last month, Iyanya from Cross River state who was the winner of the inaugural edition of MTN Project Fame West Africa was present to share his success story – not necessarily verbally.
He won a brand new Toyota RAV 4 and N2.5 million cash prize, and has since launched a successful music career with his two singles rocking the airwaves today.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bola Akingbade, chief marketing and strategy officer, MTN Nigeria, said the telecom company is bringing MTN Project Fame to teeming youths and television viewers nationwide to meet their passion, while providing an opportunity for total family entertainment and a chance to discover and nurture youthful talents.
“Music correctly taps into the passion points of youths since it is a common means of self expression and gratification. Hence, the need to provide a world-class music programme that meets the needs and aspirations of this dynamic segment. This is in accordance with our stand to provide innovative products and services that suit the individuality of our subscribers,” he stated.
The programme presents huge opportunities to explore the abundant musical talents in the country, as all contestants selected for the Project Fame Academy must be able to play music instruments, write their own songs and also perform.
During their sojourn at the Academy, they are trained by music experts who will put them through rigorous sessions, but the winner and two runner-ups will be decided by the viewers whose votes seal the fate of the contestants.
