MultiChoice Launches New High Definition Channels

MultiChoice, Nigeria’s premium pay-TV operator, has launched two high definition channels on its DStv bouquet: Discovery HD Showcase and iConcert HD, bringing to three the number of HD channels available on its DStv Premium bouquet including the recently launched entertainment channel M-Net HD. The channels are available to subscribers who have an HD ready television and who access their DStv services through the technologically advanced HD PVR (Personal Video Recorder).
Mr Joseph Hundah , managing director, MultiChoice Nigeria said: "Unlike normal TV sets which have 576 lines, HD TV has 720. This translates to about twice the number of pixels than on a normal TV, resulting in terrific picture quality with added benefits of 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and wide screen for more viewing pleasure." He added that the HD PVR decoder, which is loaded with unique features that offer vivid colours and precision picture quality as well as multi-functional capabilities, is an improvement on the existing standard definition (SD) PVR.

Discovery HD Showcase (DStv channel 172) is the only global high definition television brand offering the very best factual entertainment, selected from various Discovery channels as well as exclusive content that can only be seen on Discovery HD Showcase. iConcerts HD (DSTV 173) is a must-watch 24 hour music channel from Europe , ideal for those audiences who love to spend time in concert halls and music clubs. The channel includes music from a range of musical genres including blues, hip hop, jazz, pop, soul, reggae, rock and more.
