Following the eviction of the Jonas family in the on going Maltina Dance All (MDA) family reality Television show, five families will now slug it out in the grand finale to be held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos . This is a deviation from past norm where only three families qualify for the grand finale.
The faith of the Eselemo, Abang, Uhie, Nelson and Adejo families depended on Nigerians to decide through a voting process on or before the 25th of September, 2010. The five families, by their outstanding performances, were able to impress the judges which led to their approval for the grand finale
The families have been able to survive eviction through the various dance competition in the academy ranging from Wazobia, Jive, Pantomime, Hip-Hop and finally Contemporary African dance. The competition initially started with ten families in the academy. The Sharta family was the first family to leave the academy after the Wazobia performance followed by the Ayeni family who could not impress the judges after the Jive performance. The Wyss and Okoroafor family were the next to be evicted from the academy just after the Pantomime performance and finally the Jonas family were dropped just after the hip hop show down.
Nneka Umeigbo, the contemporary African dance trainer put the families through the dance style and gave the families the basic knowledge and steps of the dance. The rehearsal was tough and was constantly practiced. The family representatives also had to pick their type of dance and music at random.
The contemporary African dance performance was exhilarating and the five families left in the maltina dance academy gave their best to impress the judges. After the performances from the five families, the judges picked the Eselemo and Nelson family as automatic winners for the grand finale and put up The Abang, Uhie and Adejo family for possible eviction. The three families put up for possible eviction were to come back the next day to perform the same dance, contemporary African dance, to qualify them into the maltina dance all grand finale.
Mr. Nelson I. Wealth who was excited to be among the families that automatically qualified to the grand finale said “I feel happy, God is faithful. We rehearsed but when we got to the stage we made some mistakes as humans but upon all the mistakes, God still saw us through. I feel happy; it is not easy. We entered eviction twice; we thank God as the automatic family to enter the grand finale. I am proud of my children.”
Mrs. Eselemo Ebiama whose family made it to the grand finale automatically said in Pidgin English “I full ground remain, no shaking”. Anita Eselemo, through whom her family came into the academy, also had this to say “I feel very wonderful and I thank God for his mercies and favour. His favour has been working for us right from the welcome show till now”
The Abang, Uhie and Adejo family came back the next day and gave out their performances. The judges were left in a tight fix because the families were at their best. At the end of the competition, the judges decided to save the three families to compete at the grand finale alongside the two automatically selected families for the grand finale.
A t the grand finale, the Adejo family out of the five contestants won.
