Data-Point Mulls First Private ICT Polytechnic

Data-Point Microsystems limited, said it is building a private information communication technology private polytechnic, the first of its kind in Nigeria as part of it efforts to build a knowledge society.

Mr. lucky Uduikhue, chief executive of the company who stated this at the 12th batch convocation ceremony of the Institute said the Institute is partnering with local and international ICT professionals and companies, especially the EC-Council University, an India ICT giant.

The partnership would enable it transfer into developing software capable of addressing problems currently facing the Nigeria.

According to him, the partnership will enable it migrate into e-security, e-Governance, Access Control, Systems, ERP, SAP software, ICT assets management, card security systems, and “affiliate with professional bodies to take Data-Point to the next level in Nigeria and in Sub-Sahara Africa before 2015.

Data-Point Institute of Information Technology prides itself as building emerging knowledge society as it has graduated over 12,000 Nigerians on different computer professional courses in the last 12 years.

He added that the Institute has been engaged in innovative and creative schemes geared towards exposing youths to opportunities available in the information technology sector.

Uduikhue who doubles as the director of studies of the institute maintained that, particularly now that the world is fast migrating to knowledge society, where ICT dictates the pace, however, the avalanche advanced fee fraud, internet fraudsters among youths in the country must be addressed through a repackaged system.

“This brings us to the issue of failure of leadership and what the youths have become in their cravings to cross the line of poverty to glittering world of glamour and prosperity; but Data-Point offers a more profound solution to youth unemployment.

“The economic situation in Nigeria might not be favourable; Nigeria is a land of opportunities. To see those opportunities for some people it comes so easy, and for others it does not. But you have to prepare and focus to see and reach these opportunities,” he told the graduates.

Earlier, Mrs. Stella Uduikhue, CEO, Expertedge Academy Limited and executive director of the Data-Point Institute of Information Technology, identified information technology as the drive to maturity.

“Information can prosper you while lack of it can make you poor. The amount of information in you determines the uniqueness of the ‘you in you’. The amount of information at your disposal determines how knowledgeable you are as a person,” she admonished the student.
