30 Aircrafts to underpin Aviation Sector-Oduah

The federal government’s move to acquire 30 planes to aid domestic carriers was informed by the need to revitalize ailing airlines, Princess Stella Oduah, minister of Aviation has said.

She however acknowledged that the acquisition would not solve domestic carriers’ problem.

Joe Obi, media aide to the minister said that the modality for buying the planes and the mode of distribution were being worked out.

The government he, said, would contact the Airlines’ Operators of Nigeria (AON) to determine the needs of each operator.

Obi denied reports that the planes would be acquired with a $500million loan from China, and said that: “The fact of the matter is that the said amount was the loan secured from China for financing the remodelling of airports in the country.”
