Globacom has been honoured for its customer service delivery as it won the Excellent Customer Services Award at the Nigeria RISE award.
Labaran Maku, Honourable Minister of Information, who handed the award to Globacom at the ceremony held at Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja said that recognising excellence is another booster to improving the way we do things in our various places of work. He therefore encouraged Nigerians to put in their best so that we can collectively develop the country.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Ralph Ehimhen, Globacom's Postpaid Cluster Head (North-West Territory), dedicated the award to the company's millions of customers. He noted that the reward for excellence will inspire the company to work harder in order to give value to its customers and pledged the commitment of Globacom to continue to offer more value to Nigerians through ICT.
He thanked the organizers, Ben TV London for recognizing Globacom, and urged the founder, Mr. Alistair Soyode to continue to add value to the image of Nigeria abroad through his medium.
According to the citation, Globacom Nigeria, owned by Africa's business icon, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr (GCON), has a reputation for innovative services and is reputed to be one of the most rewarding mobile service providers in the world.
The citation added: "Globacom is the market leading mobile service provider in Nigeria with footprint in Ghana and Republic of Benin. It recently made history as the first single, privately owned company to build an $800m high capacity fibre-optic cable known as Glo 1. Globacom is the first successful submarine cable from the United Kingdom to Nigeria which was conceived to enhance excess bandwidth capacity that is designed to improve the lives of Nigerians.
Over the years, Globacom has been recognised by other major and credible organisations in various areas of its operations.
