House of Representatives, on Wednesday, insisted that it would proceed with the probe of the alleged personal use of a private jet charter and maintained at the cost of  N10 billion by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for use of Diezani Alison-Madueke, minister of Petroleum.

Aminu Tambuwal, speaker, who stated this against the background of reports doing the round that, he had directed that the House Committee on Public Accounts mandated by the House to probe the allegation to put it on hold.

However, during Wednesday’s sitting, the Speaker stated that “it was widely reported that I ordered that the investigation should be stopped. But it was my position that we should hold on until I receive a legal briefing on the matter, as even the judge himself had said he didn’t issue an injunction to halt the probe.”

To this end, the Speaker order the  committee to continue work on the investigation, saying, “you should continue with your investigation and turn up your report accordingly.”

It will be recalled that the House, through a resolution, mandated its Committee on Public Account  (PAC) to probe the alleged N10 billion expended on the chatter and maintenance of a Challenger 850 private jet by the minister.
