Eaton Opens Office in Nigeria

Global power management company Eaton has opened corporate office in Lagos, Nigeria.  The office will serve the needs of Eaton’s customers in Nigeria as well as Western Africa. 

Shane Kilfoil, managing director Africa, Eaton’s Electrical Sector, said the opening represents another important milestone in Eaton’s recent expansion and investment in key locations across Africa.

Eaton, which specialises in helping customers manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably, employs over 103,000 people worldwide and serves customers in 175 countries.

 In Africa, the company focuses on the creation of customised solutions to meet customers’ specific power management needs.

Speaking at a reception to mark the office opening, Kilfoil highlighted the central importance of safe, efficient and reliable energy supplies as a platform for supporting sustainable economic growth on the continent.

“The development and use of innovative technologies is critical in increasing energy efficiency in Africa,” he said. “Africa’s energy challenges lie not in building more and larger power generation plants, but instead in investment in advanced power management technologies to enable businesses to do more with less energy in an increasingly resource constrained world,” Kilfoil added.

Charles Iyo, regional sales manager, West Africa noted that the emergence of Nigeria as an economic power-house is dependent on developing innovative technologies to solve the country’s toughest power management challenges.

“The power reform agenda of the federal government is aimed at a complete restructuring, from a vertically integrated monopoly industry to a privatized competitive electricity market,” said Iyo. “The reform will enable Nigeria to overcome its huge deficit in the supply of electricity and Eaton is well positioned to support businesses with customised, end-to-end solutions for their oil and gas plants, utility requirements and renewable energy management needs,” he added.

As part of its Nigeria business growth agenda, Eaton will host industry players and customers at an Eaton Tech Day slated for September 2014 at the Eko Hotel, Lagos. The Tech Day will provide a platform for Eaton to showcase its solutions in key segments to industry leaders in Africa’s biggest market.

Iyo said that he expects the event to attract policy and decision makers, partners, customers and stakeholders in the oil and gas, power management industry from Nigeria and from the broader West African region.
