Oluropo Owolabi, managing director/chief executive officer of SAHCOL, has been honoured as a Fellow of the African Institute Of Enterprise Development and Management, and certified as a Certified Professional Enterprise Manager.
The award was given at the Excel Oriental Hotel and Suites, Murtala Muhammed International Airport road at Ikeja, Lagos on the 21st of March, 2015 to recognize Oluropo Owolabi’s esteemed contribution to the Nigerian Aviation Industry.
The African Institute of Enterprise Development and Management (AIEDM) is a recognized global professional training and educational institution registered under the CAM ACT 1990 and accredited Institutional member of the Association of Private Enterprise Education (APEE), USA.
The award ceremony which was also the Institute’s annual conference was attended by the crème de la crème in the Government, Entrepreneurs, dignitaries in the academia and distinguished guests of all works of life.
Owolabi was presented with an award of Fellow of the African Institute of Enterprise Development and Management. He was also presented with a certificate of Professional Enterprise Manager and a plaque.
Owolabi who is the Managing Director of SAHCOL is involved in the day to day running of the company which includes Passenger Handling, Ramp Handling, Cargo Handling and Warehousing, Aviation security, Baggage Reconciliation, Crew bus and Executive Lounge services and other related ground handling services.
The Managing Director was recognized as an esteemed Chief Executive who has been able to provide a platform to raise strategic and innovative leaders and nurturing future global enterprise’s leaders most especially in the Nigerian Aviation Industry.
This award is not the first of such bestowed unto Owolabi for his notable efforts and contributions to the society especially in his chosen professional field of expertise which is aviation. He has in the past received honours and awards for his astute business acumen, innovative skills, corporate excellence and innovative approach to corporate turnaround.
At the event, a lecture was delivered by Dr Olusegun Cole, director of Research and Human Capacity Building with the theme: Security, Power and Road Infrastructure-the Answer to Socio-economic Revival for Africa.
The lecture emphasized that Africa faces a lot of challenges and problems mitigating against its industrial development, proposing that the factors necessary for a rapid economic development includes road infrastructure, technology transfer, responsive Leadership, diversification of the economy, establishment of technological institutions of higher learning as well as the need for development planning.
