The need for University authorities to entrench technical and practical experiences in the academic program of students has been underscore by Dr. Raphael Gbenga Abimbola of the Mass Communication Department of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.

Dr. Gbenga Abimbola who led 35 students of his department on academic excursion to the corporate headquarters of CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller in Lagos, on Thursday, June 4, 2015, was awed by the level of intellectual and professionalism displayed by top management staff of CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller.

Abimbola made the call after the students were taking through the practical and strategic processes of the public relations practice, as well as career opportunities the study of mass communication avail the students.

He explained that, going on academic excursion and industrial training exercise avail students in tertiary institutions especially universities, practical experiences that prepare them for career grooming and competitive advantage at job market.

For three hours, the visitors were edified by top management staff of the organisation on strategic communication processes, brief and account management, PR services and offerings, media relations and services, and career paths in mass communications study.

Top egg heads in CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller that facilitated the session are Mrs. Laolu Thomas, Mr. Raheem Olabode, Mr. Tola Odusote and Mrs. Folashade Smith Olorunyomi, an alumnus of Adekunle Ajasin University.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, managing director of CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller welcomed the students and their lecturer. He coached them on academic and career success.

He also took them through leadership treatise on how to be the best in whatever they do. “Anyone of you can rise up to be the best you want to be. Your background and circumstances cannot and should not be an obstacle to your dreams”, Badejo-Okusanya emphasised.

In their response, the students asked various questions on their course of study, the practice and the use of communication by the people in government. They thanked the management for the session and took group picture with the staff of the organisation..
