The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has released guideline for its coming annual general meetings (AGM) and general requirements for elections into its elective positions.

The AGM and elections are part of activities lined up for the upcoming International Conference holding at Akure, Ondo State from 23th-25th July, 2015.

According to NCS, contestant must:
Fulfil the requirements for specific position to be contested for;  Be a Full member of the Society and a Full Member of CPN;  Be financially up-to-date in both NCS & CPN with yearly payment for the last three (3) years including the current year.

And must be Certified up to date membership of NCS Chapter;  Register for the Conference and be present during the election; Be sponsored by 2 members of NCS who must satisfy condition (3) above and Have attended 2 out of the last 3 consecutive Conferences/AGMs.

Other conditions are:
Administrative Staff of CPN, NCS or Registered Interest Groups can only contest on resignation of appointment.

For the purpose of the election, CPN Council membership is equivalent to NCS NEC membership.

There must be decency in campaigning.

Elective positions:

1.1. PRESIDENT
Must be a financially up to date Fellow of the Society and a Full Member of CPN;  Must have served at least two full terms as a NEC member and Must have registered and attended the last 3 NCS Conferences.

1.2. DEPUTY PRESIDENT
Same as President

1.3. CHAIRMAN, CONFERENCES COMMITTEE
Must have served at least a full term as NEC member or as a Conferences Committee member or served as executive member of a Chapter .

1.4. CHAIRMAN, PUBLICITY, EVENTS AND TRADE SERVICES COMMITTEE.

Must have served at least a full term as a NEC member or as a Publicity, Events and Trade Serves Committee Member or served as executive member of a Chapter
Must have the ability to interact well with C level executives

1.5. CHAIRMAN, PUBLICATIONS, STANDARDS, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Must have served at least a full term as a NEC member or as a Publications, Standards, Research and Development Committee member or as executive member of a Chapter
An Academician/Research Officer (PhD holder and Senior Lecturer or equivalent positions)

1.6. CHAIRMAN, CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE
Must be a financially up to date Fellow of the Society and a Full Member of CPN
Must have served at least a full term as a NEC member or as a Credentials Committee member

1.7. CHAIRMAN, ETHICS AND DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
Must be a financially up to date Fellow of the Society and a Full Member of CPN.
Must be morally disciplined and knowledgeable about professional ethics

1.8. CHAIRMAN, EDUCATION AND MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Must have served at least a full term as a NEC member AND as an Education and Manpower Development Committee member

1.9. CHAIRMAN, AUDIT COMMITTEE
Must have an accounting knowledge. Professional qualifications would be an added advantage.
Must have served at least a full term as a NEC member or served as executive member of a Chapter

1.10. EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS & REPRESENTATIVES TO CPN COUNCIL (6 PERSONS) - (One from each Geo Political Zones)
Must have served at least a full term as a NEC Member or Executive Member of a Chapter.

VOTERS ELIGIBILITY:
Must be a member of NCS
Financially up-to-date with not less than 24 months
Voting is not by proxy. Voters must register for the Conference and be present during the election which will hold during the Conference

IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
Submission of Nomination Form with Supporting Documents: Tuesday July 21, 2015
Announcement of Candidate Duly Qualified to Contest: Wednesday July 22, 2015
Manifesto night: Wednesday July 22, 2015

NOTE: All completed nomination forms should be sent to NCS National Secretariat or [email protected]

VOTING:
Shall be as specified by the Electoral Committee

CAMPAIGN:
Campaigning starts when the electoral guideline is published on the NCS website‎.
