President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the appointment of Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi as Post-Master General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST).

The appointment was announced in a one-paragraph statement signed by Bolaji Adebiyi,  director (Press), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Dr Richard Balang had for months acted as Post-Master General of the Federation.

Brief Background of New NIPOST Boss
Asiwaju Adegbuyi grew up in Ibadan and had his secondary school education in Awe, Oyo State.

He had his A’ Levels in Ijebu Ode School of Basic Studies before proceeding to University of Lagos where he had his first degree in law.

He went back to the same school for his masters; I was also in the law school.

Shittu and NIPOST Reform Agenda
Before now, Mr Adebayo Shittu, minister of Communications and Technology, had stated that whoever emerges as the new NIPOST PMG will be “prepared to face the business challenge of revitalizing the post offices”.

According to the Minister, “After the appointment, the new posts, we are looking at having call centres as part of the business; banks, internet service providers (ISPs), etc., to help boost the fortunes of the post.
