Europol and other international security outfits have arrested five persons accused of being involved in a string of ransomware attacks that have affected more than 1,800 victims worldwide.

The suspects include the criminal gang’s ringleader and four of his accomplices, who were arrested following a series of raids at 30 properties across Ukraine last week, Europol said in a statement.
The names of the suspects were not disclosed.
More than 20 investigators from Norway, France, Germany, and the United States cooperated with the Ukrainian National Police with the investigation in Kyiv.
Nigeria has not been spared in the spree of cyber-attacks, recently, Kaspersky report indicated that the country recorded the second-highest number of cyber-attacks in Africa.
Recently, Nigeria ranked 50th globally for online threats, Kenya was ranked 35th globally and South Africa made it among the top three, ranking 82nd globally.
