Afribank Staff Charity Fund last weekend moved to Ibadan to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged by donating food stuffs and electronic appliances to the Solanke Motherless Babies Day Care Centre and Oluyole Cheshire Home, Oluyole respectively.
Mr. Adegbite Adebiyi, President of the Afribank Staff Charity Fund, while presenting the items to the two institutions in Ibadan, said Staff of Afribank were driven to initiate the fund primarily to identify with the needy in the society and give them a lease of life.
“We believe that irrespective of the disability of any person or circumstances of birth of any child in the society, access to basic necessities of life is essential as that is the only way to help them realize their potentials and make them live a normal life” Adebiyi said.
He added that the Staff drew the inspiration to assist the needy from the Bank which has been engaging in much more elaborate welfare schemes as part of its social responsibility project.
 “As Staff of Afribank, we believe that we have moral obligations to assist those who do not have the same privilege we have and hold the society the responsibility to invest back into it for the opportunity it gave us”, Mr. Adebiyi expressed.
Adebiyi noted that Afribank and its staff are very sensitive to the needs of the environment where they operate and have always demonstrated concern to develop people and institutions in the society assuring that Afribank and its staff would continue to identify the needs of its business environment and initiate measures to improve the lot of its stakeholders, including the less privileged”.
Mrs. Tinuola Jaiya, Matron of  Oluyole Cheshire Home thanked Afribank Staff “for the moral, material and financial support” which has given the Home and its students’ the  hope of a better future. She described Afribank Staff Charity Fund as revolutionary in the social responsibility programme in the country.
Mr. Remi Odeyemi, Matron of Solanke Motherless Babies Day Care Centre, expressed her heart-felt gratitude in appreciation of the bank’s generous donation and concern for the less privilege babies.
The Charity Fund, a social responsibility Project of the Staff of Afribank aimed at giving the needy a better life had made several donations to the less privileged management institutions in Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, Jos and in other parts of the country.
