Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake of Egba land, has commended the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (Acamb) for the giant strides it has recorded in recent times.
The monarch made the commendation while receiving members of the Association led by Eddy Ademosu, President of the Association at his Palace in Abeokuta as part of the 2009 Annual conference/retreat of the Association.
He said he was not surprised that 90 percent of banks operating in Nigeria have branches in Abeokuta, as part of the giant strides in the development of the economy of Ogun State.
Kayode Sunmola, Director General, Bureau of Management and Budget, Office of the Governor of Ogun State, in the same vein has called on banks to partner the state in its 20-year plan to accelerate development.
He said the state is currently constructing the biggest transport shipment zone in West Africa at Odo-Omi as well as the construction of an international airport in the state. He noted that there are tremendous opportunities in housing, petro-chemicals, roads construction, transportation, among others.
He solicited the support of banks in the area of human capacity building and infrastructural development to enhance the administration of the state and facilitate the implementation of government programmes.
Eddy Ademosu said that the Association of is the umbrella body for all image managers in the Nigerian banking industry. The Association aims to improve working relationship between banks, the government and the public in order to build trust and confidence between all parties, thus promoting a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
