ASCSREPs Says NASS Resolution on Demuren, NCAA Boss Pointless

Aviation experts have return damning indictment on the National Assembly for calling for the immediate sack of Dr Harold Demuren, director general, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); describing the call as baseless.

The experts under the aegis of Aviation Sector Civil Society Representatives (ASCSREPs) expressed serious concern over recent outbursts by the National Assembly on the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

The  body called on President Goodluck Jonathan and Princess Stella Adaeze-Oduah, minister of aviation, to disregard recent resolutions of the Senate which they claimed would would drag the sector several years backward.

Comrade Saidu Razaq of the Medium Term Sector Strategy, in a  statement, said after taking critical look at the resolutions passed by the Senate and House of Representatives and comparing it with the reality on ground  in the sector under the leadership of the present Minister in terms of recorded credible improvement in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations and Safety related functions of the NCAA and other parastatals, there was no basis for the call by the Senate to sack the Director General of NCAA, Dr Harold Demuren”

“The call by the Senate was suspect and tantamount to vindiveness” the statement said.

The group also passed a vote of confidence on Dr Demuren and the entire NCAA and described them as very competent.

“They have never lacked in the discharge of their duties as provided by the enabling laws” ASCSREPs noted

Prior to the Dana plane crash, the statements noted, there had been plane crashes within and outside the country and were handled professionally and not left to whims and caprices of political interference of legislators.
