This is an era of knowledge – based economy; the Internet has become a veritable tool for business, communication and social empowerment.
Unfortunately a few Nigerians have misappropriated the tool earning the country notoriety as haven for internet scammers.
This has tarnished the image of the country in no small measure.
But something can still be done. It is generally agreed that one of the ways to reduce the incidence of cyber crime and rebrand Nigeria is by empowering Nigerians especially with the latest opportunities that the Internet provides in areas of business, education, governance, communication, medicine and agriculture.
That is why we welcome the idea of Nigeria Internetworld Conference and Exhibition (NICE).
It is conceived as an annual event to provide education, empowerment, networking, business opportunities for Nigerians.
With some 2,000 visitors expected at the event, NICE will create a platform where Nigerians will be educated and empowered with the latest development in the world of Internet.
This event is meant to spark up the Internet for Business (I4B) revolution in Nigeria and encourage entrepreneurship.
The mode of achievement of the main essence of the conference is through seminars, exhibitions and networking.
The seminar will involve speakers who are experts in relevant Internet related fields.
With the the theme: Internet for Business (I4B): Empowering Nigerians through the Internet, the main focus will be Internet access and Connectivity; e-Commerce and Digital marketing; web technology and development; Internet security; social media; content development; Internet and its application in different fields like media, medicine, governance, security and Internet Trends and Business opportunities like domain name business, web hosting as well as legislation.
We therefore implore organizations and governments at all level to see the event as a way of rebranding the country by empowering Nigerians with the latest opportunities that the Internet provides.
The event also offers companies’ excellent window to showcase their products and services to visitors expected at the event.
