The game show, which was launched in Lagos recently, broadcasts on Saturdays, for a period of six months; terminating in May, 2009.
Break the Bank promises to be a unique show. It will be recorded from a customized state-of-the-art studio; and a highly experienced production crew constituted by professional TV producers has been assembled by the company, to ensure a world-class production. The crew is being supervised by a New York based production company presently under a contract in Lagos.
The show will be a five-minute live-to-tape one, which will be anchored by ace broadcaster, Freeze of Cool FM who will be assisted by Aishat Danjuma. It is structured around two contestants who come on set and win a minimum of N300,000 weekly. Each contestant out of the two has a chance to pick one of the 17 letters that makes up “MultiLinks Telkom,” and behind one of those 17 letters lies the grand prize of N5 million.
However, what they win is independent of what letter each contestant picks and the amount behind that letter.
The game is open to everyone. To play, all prospective participants need to do is text ‘Break the Bank’ to 35388 from any mobile network for a chance to take part; and MultiLinks Telkom has disclosed that everyone who qualifies to play certainly wins something.
Interacting with journalists before the launch of the show, the anchorman, Freeze, explained that the major reason why he opted to grace the show was because of “the transparency of the show and the fact that it will weekly empower and positively touch the lives of the people.”
“I am bringing my wealth of experience as an on-air personality to bear on the show in order that it becomes a must-watch, and to spur subscribers into enjoying the quality service that MultiLinks Telkom is noted for,” he added.
In accordance with the corporate governance policy of the telecom company, highly regarded auditing firm, KPMG has been given the responsibility of ensuring maximum transparency and industry best practice.
