Akinola Obadia, Lagos state chairman, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties ( CNPP) has urged the federal government to pay the debt of N51 billion which the Lagos State Government expended on federal roads within the state as agreed by the two parties.

Obadia said that the federal government’s indebtedness to the state government represented the cost incurred on the rehabilitation of federal roads within the state.

He said: “This road network, which includes Apapa-Oshodi joining the expressway, among others, has continued to increase the prosperity and economic buoyancy of the country from the haulage of imported goods to the hinterland of the country.”

Obadia explained that it would be an unpardonable political misadventure if the federal government refused to pay the N51 billion debt in the face of the huge expenditure incurred by the state in meeting the needs of over 21 million people.
