Indigenes and residents of Edo State have been advised to take advantage of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc’s ongoing savings bonanza to develop a savings culture as a way of cushioning the impact of the present economic meltdown.
Mrs. Sera Adetugbuboh, Edo State honourable commissioner for commerce and industry gave the advice while endorsing the bank’s savings bonanza in Benin recently.
Adetugbuboh said the different prizes available to winners were the best ways to showcase the confidence and capability of the bank in the nation’s operating environment.
In the same vein, Chief Charles Edosenwan, former attorney general of Edo State and Ghebaghase of Benin kingdom congratulated the bank for introducing the savings bonanza, saying it was a welcome initiative. He stressed that the bonanza would help existing and prospective customers develop a savings culture.
Mr. Victor Oligho, controller of branches, Central Bank of Nigeria, Edo State Zone attested to the strength and reliability of Union Bank, which he said had made the bank overcome challenges during the post-consolidation era.
He also noted the bank’s contribution to the stability of the nation’s financial services industry, saying the savings bonanza was another good way to assist customers improve their living standard.
The bank embarked on a roadshow in Benin, the capital city of Edo State, recently to create adequate awareness about its ongoing savings bonanza, which would run till September this year.
