Consortium for the Promotion of Energy Projects is Now Active in Nigeria

Project Health Control (PHC), a powerful new project control methodology to drive projects to early finish that is now active in Nigeria.

The concept of PHC is reaching into the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people working in its Energy Industries as the penny drops for a stream of new consortium members about how money incentives relate directly to sustained project success.

The Nigeria PHC Consortium is a body of people from companies in the Nigerian Energy industries with a commercial interest in industrial production projects in Nigeria.

Typically a project that produces for instance an Oil and Gas Refinery will be owned by one or more International Oil Companies, partnered with NNPC and serviced by Engineering Companies and local Service Companies.

The Consortium unites people from the whole range of companies in the industry to provide a common platform for the promotion of best practice in the implementation of projects in Nigeria.

The Consortium looks set to prepare the way for PHC into Nigeria by removing one of the major barriers encountered to date. The lack of a platform for dissemination of information that addresses common misconceptions about the overall benefits of PHC in a project.

"I have worked in a PHC environment and can say that the benefits of PHC applied to your project only become truly known and understood on receipt of your very first incentives payment. When you realise that all you need to do is work normally on your project, giving it your best, using the PHC systems to report progress and problems," said Cornel Eze - Manifold Engineer - IESL.

Payments are weekly and vary according to the project's success-related 'buzz' which spreads rapidly and induces a desire in all to give the project their continual best.

It is expected that the Consortium will make it possible to broadcast the message that PHC stands as the catalyst that links early completion with benefit for project participants.

"If we could harness the power of raw enthusiasm in a project's workforce we could achieve a free flowing progress towards completion," said David Winter, director of Order Efficiency Ltd. "With the application of PHC to a project we get our wish for early completion with willing cooperation from an enthusiastic workforce fueled by a system of progressive money incentive payments."

The race is still on to find a project for PHC to use as a trial and there are some contenders currently in negotiation.

To give the impending trial the best chance of success, it needs to be played out under the open scrutiny of as much of Nigeria's Energy industry population as possible.

This can be achieved through the consortium whose membership is made up from individuals from the whole spectrum of companies working in Nigeria's Energy Industries.
