Chief Tony Okoroji, Coson chairman said nothing short of the best have always been the expectation from both fans and admirers alike “And they have proven that they are equal to the task. They have done not only themselves proud but their fans and families”.
Okoroji said “A lot effort was put into these songs and for an award such as Headies to recognize these young men’s efforts only underscores the fact that the time is now for all music lovers and users to recognize and respect the stars’ rights just so that other up and coming musicians can strive to achieve this kind of feat. At Coson, we are doing our best to ensure that their labours are not in vain. These awards should translate to something greater; a secured future. As the nation’s sole collective management organization, we have resolved that the pride of Nigerian musicians must be restored and every musician must be happy to be a musician”
Chinedu Chukwuji, general manager of Coson, said the award has further confirmed that these music stars are champions in their own right.
“I am particularly happy that these musicians have been given credit for their efforts. Let me also use this medium to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that their efforts are not rewarded in awards alone, but their royalties must also fetch them money so that they can be energized to cook more good songs. I urge everyone who uses music to recognize that now is the time to restore the lost glory of the music industry and help give our musicians a sense of belonging”.
