Daar Communications Plc, a foremost player in the Nigerian broadcasting industry and owners of AIT and Raypower FM last week, acquired the broadcast rights to the Nigerian Football Association properties.
This came as a sequel to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the company and the NFA.
The contract makes it possible for Daar Communications to produce and broadcast matches involving the home-based Super Eagles and other teams; and transmit them via their free to air and pay television platforms.
In addition to this, Daar Communications Plc in conjunction with Pamodzi, NFA’s Marketing Consultant, has the right to organize standard international friendly matches for the home teams.
The company recently launched its first Pay TV channel, Daar Movistar on the Sky B Channel 333 in Europe and currently plans to launch its full Direct to Home Satellite TV; DaarSat which if realized will make it the first Nigerian broadcasting outfit to achieve such feat.
Daar Communications Plc is a recipient of numerous international and local awards among which are the achievement gold award’ 99 for achievement in sports and the Nigerian boxing board of control’s certificate of honour for outstanding service to the development and growth of professional boxing in Nigeria.
Founded by Chief Aleogho Dokpesi, in 1993 upon the deregulation of broadcasting in the country, Daar Communications pioneered private broadcasting from Ilapo village, in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The mission of Daar Communications is borne out of a Pan-African cum humanist vision of its founder who holds a Doctorate Degree in Marine Transport Engineering from the University of Gdansk, Sopot in Poland.
