Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, has said that he is still interested in buying Arsenal. one of English premier league football teams.
In an interview he did with Bloomberg while traveling in a private jet from Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to Lagos on May 1, Dangote said he'll love to buy the club when the price is right.
"I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy.” he reportedly said
Dangote was rebuffed in his attempts to buy a stake in the club in 2010. The businessman is still hopeful that someday he'll own the club.
Arsenal Holdings Plc is valued at $1.49billion. Dangote is worth $15.7 billion, so he's capable!
Stan Kroenke, owner of the National Football League’s St. Louis Rams holds 67% shares in the club. Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov and Farhad Moshiri, own 30%.
Owning the club will make the 58year-old the first African owner of a club in England.
