Defence HQ, New Horizon Join Forces to Tackle Cyber Crimes

The Defence Headquarters and New Horizon, the foremost provider of IT training in Nigeria have agreed to join forces to put measures to tackle fast rising cyber crimes in the country.

Air Vice Marshal Osmond Amu, Chief of Communications (DHQ), said the culmination of the agreement will the cyber stakeholders conference "to identify challenges associated with cyberspace, cashless economy, space resources and thereafter proffer solutions."

This event will hold  September 17 and 19.

Amu said the conference with theme 'exploiting the cyber and space resources to meet contemporary security challenges' was aimed at building on the knowledge and awareness on the latest development "in cyber crimes and its threats to national security with a view to developing strategies for containing them."

He said cyber expert including; Mohammed Noor Amin, chairman Management Board, International Multilateral Partnership against Cyber Threat (IMPACT), Joe Sanders, Vice President Time Warner Telecoms Incorporation, Sanjay Bavisi of Electronics Commerce Worldwide Incorporation and a galaxy of local experts will   take part in the event.

The topics for discussion at the forthcoming conference included cashless society and the implications for national security, military communication imperatives to meet contemporary society and protection of national infrastructure and integrated network security; the ICT dimension.
