Four directors of Diamond Bank plc including, Mr. Seyi Bickersteth, chairman, have resigned paving way for the new investors to nominate their representatives to serve on the bank’s board.
Bickersteth, in a letter of resignation said, “It has been an honour to serve on the board of the bank as chairman, and I will continue to support the bank in every way possible.”
Other directors who resigned are, Ms. Aisha Oyebode, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi and Ms. Juliet Anammah.
Lately, shareholders of Diamond Bank had not been happy with the results of the financial institution.
Specifically, they have not been comfortable with the management style of Mr Uzoma Dozie managing director/CEO.
In fact, some of the shareholders had been asking for his removal to allow the lender favourably compete well with its peers in the banking industry.
In a letter dated October 24 and sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) , Diamond Bank confirmed the resignation.

The letter titled “RESIGNATION OF CHAIRMAN AND NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS,” notified the NSE and the public that the following Non-Executive Directors have resigned from the Board of Diamond Bank Plc with immediate effect.
“The directors are resigning for varied personal reasons, which will include focusing on their priorities. Diamond Bank will update the market with any further developments in due course,” the letter signed by Uzoma Uja, it’s company secretary, stated.
